Shedding is a two-part problem. The robot has to lift hair out of the carpet, and it has to do it without wrapping that hair around its own brush. Most robots manage one. These manage both.
The questions people ask before they buy, with a straight answer and the robot or fix that handles each one.
🐾
Will it smear a pet accident across the floor?
That’s what camera avoidance is for. Vacuum Wars’ 24-object course includes pet-waste stand-ins, and the camera flagships here avoided 22 or 23 of the 24. Robots without obstacle cameras, like the Roomba 105 Vac, don’t try.
Check the tangle score separately from pickup. The L60 Pro Ultra and T90 Pro Omni wrapped nothing in Vacuum Wars’ 7-inch hair test; the Roomba 105 Vac tangled heavily.
A robot helps by running often. For emptying, sealed bags keep dust contained: iRobot rates the Roomba 105’s bag at 99% of allergens down to 0.7 microns, and Bissell’s bagless FurForce base uses HEPA filtration.
🐈
What about cat litter?
Litter is gritty and scatters. Dreame’s L60 Ultra listing, for example, describes adjusting suction near litter boxes. Schedule short daily runs so litter never builds up.

Our robot vacuums for pet hair
#1
Best for pet hair and carpet
Dreame L60 Pro Ultra
A carpet-first flagship that lifts itself over thresholds and keeps hair off its brush.
Why it’s on this list: Our top pet pick: 93.5% of embedded pet hair against an 82% average, with nothing wrapped on the brush.
90% carpet deep clean
93.5% embedded pet hair
No hair tangles
Climbed 51 mm
In Vacuum Wars’ testing the L60 Pro Ultra pulled 90% of embedded sand out of carpet and 93.5% of embedded pet hair, against a category average of 82%, and its brush wrapped no hair at all in the tangle test. Its camera and dual-laser system avoided 22 of 24 objects.
It climbs, too: retractable legs carried it over a 51 mm threshold. The weak spots sit on the mopping side, where heavy water use dragged its combined score below average, plus below-average navigation and battery efficiency, so it covers less floor per charge than the best here.
Dreame rates its ProLeap legs for double-layer thresholds up to 3.47 inches and single steps up to 1.77 inches, and a liftable LiDAR drops the robot to 3.50 inches to get under furniture. The mop and side brush extend up to 40 mm into corners, and on carpet it can remove its mop pads entirely or lift them 10.5 mm.

Best overall
Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete
The most complete robot here: slim enough for low sofas, careful around clutter and excellent with pet hair.
Why it’s on this list: Perfect on flattened pet hair and careful around clutter, in a body slim enough for the hair under the bed.
3.13 in tall
Dual AI cameras
Climbed 51 mm in testing
Dock holds about 100 days of dust
Vacuum Wars ranked the X60 Max Ultra Complete as its best overall robot vacuum from June through August, and it still sits near the top of the channel’s October list. The numbers explain why: a rare 100% on flattened pet hair, an 89% carpet deep-clean score, and 22 of 24 obstacles avoided with its binocular cameras.
Its real trick is height. At 3.13 inches with a retractable LiDAR, it reaches under sofas and beds that stop most robots, and it still climbed a 51 mm threshold in testing. The compromises are modest: about 950 square feet of coverage per charge and a small 235 ml onboard bin, so a large single-story home will see it pause to recharge.
Dreame’s listing fills in the daily details. The mop pads press down with 15 N at 230 RPM using 104°F water, the 10-in-1 dock washes and dries them and holds roughly 100 days of dust, and a dual-solution system doses detergent for you. It sets up on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only, so check that your router still broadcasts that band.

You have shedding pets, low furniture and a floor that’s rarely free of socks and cords.

The price stings. The Ecovacs T90 Pro Omni matched its 100% pet-hair score in testing, and Dreame’s X60 Ultra lists the same 3.13-inch robot with a simpler single-solution dock.

Best robot vacuum and mop combo
Ecovacs Deebot T90 Pro Omni
The best mopping we’ve seen measured, from a robot that also aces pet hair.
Why it’s on this list: 100% on flattened pet hair and zero tangles, with the best mopping here for paw prints.
Self-washing roller mop
23 of 24 obstacles avoided
Roller lifts 0.6 in on carpet
Matter support
Vacuum Wars scored the T90 Pro Omni’s roller mop at 157 points in its dried-stain test, nearly 50% above average and the second-highest combined mopping score the channel has recorded. On the vacuum side it picked up 100% of flattened pet hair against an 82% average, wrapped nothing in the 7-inch hair test and dodged 23 of 24 obstacles.
Two limits showed up in testing: a very small 250 ml onboard bin, which means frequent trips to the dock, and threshold climbing that topped out at 32 mm. Vacuum Wars currently names it the best value robot vacuum on its list.
Per Ecovacs, the 10.6-inch OZMO Roller 3.0 rinses itself with fresh water as it scrubs and reaches 0.6 inches past the body along baseboards. It lifts 0.6 inches on carpet, and a Carpets First mode vacuums rugs with a dry roller before it mops. The OMNI station washes the roller at up to 167°F, dries it with 145°F air and flushes its own dirty-water system to keep odors down.

Best eufy robot for pet homes
eufy E25 Robot Vacuum and Mop
A self-rinsing roller mop and anti-tangle brushes, aimed squarely at pet owners.
Why it’s on this list: TechGearLab’s pick for pet owners, with anti-tangle brushes and a self-rinsing roller mop.
HydroJet roller mop
3 L bag, about 75 days
Mop lifts 10.8 mm
Maps up to 5 floors
TechGearLab’s ratings call eufy’s Omni E25 the best robot vacuum for pet owners. Its roller mop is refreshed with clean water twice a second, so it isn’t pushing yesterday’s grime around the kitchen.
Its weak spot is climbing: eufy rates it for 21 mm thresholds, so tall saddles are a problem. On hard floors and low rugs, it’s an easy robot to live with.
eufy lists 20,000 Pa of suction, DuoSpiral anti-tangle brushes, a CornerRover arm that reaches along baseboards, and a station that empties into a 3-liter bag, washes the roller and dries it with 50°C air. It remembers up to five floor plans, runs about 125 minutes in standard mode and is rated at 61 dB or less on max.

Best for sticky kitchens
Ecovacs Deebot X12S OmniCyclone
A premium roller mop that pre-soaks stains before it scrubs them.
Why it’s on this list: Its sibling, the X12, hit 100% pet-hair pickup with no tangles in Vacuum Wars’ tests.
FocusJet pre-spray
Roller lifts 0.59 in, then a cover closes
Bagless dock
3.86 in tall
Vacuum Wars tested the closely related X12 OmniCyclone and counted it among the year’s best performers: a very high combined mopping score from its FocusJet pre-soak, 100% pet-hair pickup with no tangles, and 23 of 24 obstacles avoided. Its three-month home test was less glowing about the bagless dock, which got messy.
The X12S listing describes the same FocusJet pre-spray and a 10.6-inch OZMO Roller 3.0 fed by 32 water outlets, with a scraper pulling dirty water away. On carpet, Carpet Shield lifts the roller 0.59 inches and closes a cover over it, and PowerBoost PLUS restores up to 13% battery in a 3-minute wash. At 3.86 inches it stands taller than the slim Dreames.

Best bagless dock, no dust bags
Ecovacs Deebot X11 OmniCyclone
A roller-mop robot whose dock never needs a dust bag.
Why it’s on this list: A ZeroTangle 3.0 brush and a bagless dock, so no bags fill up with fur.
Bagless dock
Self-washing roller mop
Crosses 0.9 in steps
Charges while it washes
The X11 OmniCyclone made Vacuum Wars’ October top 20 with a roller mop that scrubs and rinses itself, a ZeroTangle 3.0 brush and a bagless dock, so the running cost of dust bags simply goes away. Its PowerBoost charging tops up the battery during mop-washing breaks, about 6% in three minutes by Vacuum Wars’ count.
Bagless has a trade-off. Vacuum Wars’ three-month home test of the newer X12 OmniCyclone, which uses the same style of bagless dock, found it messier to live with than expected. If dust bothers you, a sealed bag is the cleaner way to empty a robot.
Ecovacs lists 19,500 Pa of suction with 38 CFM of airflow, a TruePass four-wheel system that crosses steps up to 0.9 inches and gaps up to 1.6 inches, and a Triple Lift system that raises the roller on carpet. The station hot-washes at up to 167°F, dries the roller, refills water and doses two cleaning solutions.

Best budget self-emptying robot
Dreame D20 Pro Plus
The affordable robot that handled thick carpet best in CNN’s testing.
Why it’s on this list: The budget pick: a detangling DuoBrush and a 5-liter bag that won’t fill fast with fur.
Dock bag rated up to 150 days
Detangling DuoBrush
Extendable side brush
Basic mop tank
CNN Underscored tested ten robots and found the D20 Pro Plus the best of its affordable group at getting across high-pile carpet, which is exactly where cheap robots usually bog down.
Treat the mop as a bonus. It drags a pad fed by a 350 ml tank, which keeps dust down on hard floors but won’t lift dried stains the way a mop-washing dock does. As a self-emptying vacuum at this price, it covers the basics well.
Dreame lists 13,000 Pa of Vormax suction, a HyperStream detangling DuoBrush, an extendable side brush for corners, a 500 ml onboard bin and a dock with a 5-liter bag rated for up to 150 days. It works with Alexa, Siri and Google Home, on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.

Best vacuum-only robot, no mop to manage
Shark AI Ultra Robot Vacuum (AV2511AE)
No water tanks, no pads, no bags: just a vacuum that empties itself.
Why it’s on this list: A self-cleaning brushroll and a bagless base for carpeted homes that don’t need a mop.
Bagless 60-day base
No mop
Self-cleaning brushroll
Recharges and resumes
Plenty of homes don’t need a mop at all, and every mop adds tanks to fill and pads to wash. The AI Ultra skips all of it. Vacuum Wars has reviewed Shark’s AI Ultra family, and TechGearLab’s ratings place it mid-pack: it earns a spot through simplicity, not record scores.
Shark’s Matrix Clean pattern sends it over the floor in a grid of overlapping passes for extra coverage on carpet, and the LiDAR map lets you send it to one room from the app or by voice.
Shark lists a bagless base that holds up to 60 days of debris, a self-cleaning brushroll designed to prevent hair wrap, up to 90 minutes of runtime with recharge and resume, and Alexa and Google Assistant support.

Your floors are mostly carpet, nobody wants to deal with mop pads, and you’d rather not buy bags.

Newest pet-focused robot
Bissell FlexClean FurForce Robot Vac and Mop (4270L)
Bissell’s new pet-focused robot, from the brand best known for pet-hair uprights.
Why it’s on this list: Bissell’s new pet robot with a NeverTangle brush roll and a HEPA base; not yet independently tested.
⚠️Not yet independently tested.
Bagless HEPA base, about 8 weeks
NeverTangle brush roll
LiDAR
No independent tests yet
It’s too new for independent test results, so it sits here as an alternative. Bissell claims twice the suction at the motor and up to 30% more hair pickup in its own comparisons, a NeverTangle brush roll, LiDAR navigation and a bagless base with HEPA filtration that holds about eight weeks of debris.
One catch from the listing: full mopping features require connecting the robot to Bissell’s app.

❓
For pet hair FAQ
Short answers to what people ask most.
What robot vacuum is best for dog hair?
For carpeted homes, the Dreame L60 Pro Ultra: 93.5% of embedded pet hair and no tangles in Vacuum Wars’ tests. For hard floors, the Ecovacs T90 Pro Omni, which picked up 100% of flattened pet hair.
Which robot vacuum avoids dog poop?
Camera-equipped robots. The Dreame X60 Max avoided 22 of 24 objects and the T90 Pro Omni 23 of 24 on Vacuum Wars’ course, which includes pet-waste stand-ins. Avoid budget robots without obstacle cameras.
Are robot vacuums good for long hair?
Only with anti-tangle brushes. Check tangle results: the L60 Pro Ultra and T90 Pro Omni wrapped no 7-inch hair in testing, while the Roomba 105 Vac tangled heavily.
Is a Roomba good for pet hair?
The budget Roomba 105 Vac isn’t: Vacuum Wars measured 29% pickup of flattened pet hair, and RTINGS scored it 5.0 for pets.
How often should a robot vacuum run with pets?
Daily if you can. Short, frequent runs keep hair from building up and clogging the brush, which Vacuum Wars recommends for shedding homes.
Do robot vacuums scare dogs and cats?
Some pets ignore them and some don’t. Run the robot while you’re home for the first week, then schedule it for times your pets are calm.
