Are $100 no-name robots worth it?
Amazon is full of them, and some are fine. We skip them because they rarely have independent test results, and app and parts support is the first thing to disappear when a brand fades.
Cheap robots have never been this capable, and Amazon has never had more no-name listings. We stuck to models with independent test results, and we say where each one cuts corners.

Amazon is full of them, and some are fine. We skip them because they rarely have independent test results, and app and parts support is the first thing to disappear when a brand fades.
Usually obstacle avoidance, mop washing and dock capacity. Vacuum Wars notes that budget robots can clean well but need more babysitting.
Some do: the D20 Pro Plus has a detangling brush. Some don’t: Vacuum Wars measured the Roomba 105 Vac at 29% on flattened pet hair.
Our pick for this: Dreame D20 Pro Plus

Best budget self-emptying robot
The affordable robot that handled thick carpet best in CNN’s testing.
Why it’s on this list: Our budget pick: CNN found it the best affordable robot on high-pile carpet.
CNN Underscored tested ten robots and found the D20 Pro Plus the best of its affordable group at getting across high-pile carpet, which is exactly where cheap robots usually bog down.
Treat the mop as a bonus. It drags a pad fed by a 350 ml tank, which keeps dust down on hard floors but won’t lift dried stains the way a mop-washing dock does. As a self-emptying vacuum at this price, it covers the basics well.
Dreame lists 13,000 Pa of Vormax suction, a HyperStream detangling DuoBrush, an extendable side brush for corners, a 500 ml onboard bin and a dock with a 5-liter bag rated for up to 150 days. It works with Alexa, Siri and Google Home, on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
You want hands-off vacuuming on carpet and rugs for the least money.
You want real mopping. Step up to the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra, which washes its own mops.

Best value full-service dock
Most of a flagship’s daily routine, for far less than flagship money.
Why it’s on this list: If you can stretch, this adds mop washing and drying plus camera avoidance.
TechGearLab’s robot vacuum ratings name the P10 Pro Ultra the best pick for most people, and RTINGS has bought and reviewed it as well. It’s one of the least expensive robots here with a dock that washes and dries its own mops.
Expect fewer extras than the flagships. Its camera system recognizes about 70 kinds of objects, where Dreame’s newest robots list 280-plus, so a floor covered in toys and cables is a better job for the X60 Max.
MOVA lists 13,000 Pa of suction, a dock that washes the mops with 149°F water and dries them with hot air, a 3.2-liter bag good for about 75 days, and 4.5-liter clean and 4-liter dirty water tanks. The mops lift 10.5 mm on carpet, and the 5,200 mAh battery is rated for up to 2.5 hours.
You want a mop-washing dock and camera obstacle avoidance without spending flagship money.
You have heavy shedders and lots of rugs. The Dreame L60 Pro Ultra is the stronger carpet and pet-hair machine.

Best value roller mop
Last year’s self-washing roller mop at a much friendlier price.
Why it’s on this list: A self-washing roller mop, a 2025 flagship now sold for much less.
TechGearLab tested the X9 Pro Omni back when it launched as a premium model. Newer Ecovacs robots have since added suction and hotter docks, and that’s exactly why this one is worth a look now: the same idea of a roller that rinses itself while mopping, for a lot less money.
It is the older design, with 16,600 Pa of suction and ZeroTangle 2.0 rather than the newer 4.0 brush, so homes with heavy shedders should look at the T90 Pro Omni first.
Ecovacs lists a Triple Lift system that raises the mop, side brush and main brush independently, a roller that lifts on carpet, AIVI 3D 3.0 recognition of more than 100 household objects with LiDAR mapping, and an OMNI station that washes the roller with hot water, dries it and handles up to 150 days of upkeep.
You want roller mopping for hard floors and kitchen spills on a mid-range budget.
You have long-haired pets. The T90 Pro Omni’s newer brush resisted tangles completely in testing.

Best vacuum-only robot, no mop to manage
No water tanks, no pads, no bags: just a vacuum that empties itself.
Why it’s on this list: Vacuum-only and bagless, the simplest robot to live with.
Plenty of homes don’t need a mop at all, and every mop adds tanks to fill and pads to wash. The AI Ultra skips all of it. Vacuum Wars has reviewed Shark’s AI Ultra family, and TechGearLab’s ratings place it mid-pack: it earns a spot through simplicity, not record scores.
Shark’s Matrix Clean pattern sends it over the floor in a grid of overlapping passes for extra coverage on carpet, and the LiDAR map lets you send it to one room from the app or by voice.
Shark lists a bagless base that holds up to 60 days of debris, a self-cleaning brushroll designed to prevent hair wrap, up to 90 minutes of runtime with recharge and resume, and Alexa and Google Assistant support.
Your floors are mostly carpet, nobody wants to deal with mop pads, and you’d rather not buy bags.
You need careful avoidance of pet messes. Camera robots like the Dreame X60 Max are much more cautious.

Cheapest Shark with a mop
Shark’s grid-cleaning robot with sonic mopping, minus the self-empty base.
Why it’s on this list: Light mopping and grid-pattern navigation, but no self-empty base.
Matrix Clean sends the robot over the floor in a precision grid with multiple passes, and its sonic mop scrubs hard floors 100 times a minute while it vacuums. LiDAR maps the house so you can target rooms from the app or by voice.
The listing doesn’t include a self-emptying base, so plan on emptying the bin yourself. If that sounds like a chore, the Shark AI Ultra adds a bagless base but drops the mop.
You want a Shark that mops lightly and don’t mind emptying the bin.
You want hands-off upkeep. Any self-emptying pick on this page is less work.

Cheapest mop-washing dock
A mop-washing dock at a budget price, with caveats.
Why it’s on this list: A mop-washing dock at a budget price; Vacuum Wars called the D30 Ultra feature-rich but short of a winner.
Vacuum Wars tested the D30 Ultra, the most advanced model in Dreame’s entry-level D line, and called it feature-rich but short of a winner. The CE version here follows the same idea: a dock that washes the mop pads and empties the bin, for a lot less than flagship money.
Dreame lists 25,000 Pa of suction, a self-cleaning washboard with 20 spray nozzles, mops that lift up to 0.41 inches on carpet, 0.79-inch threshold crossing and a 3.2-liter bag rated for about 100 days.
You want mop washing on the smallest budget and can live with compromises.
You can stretch a little. The MOVA P10 Pro Ultra is the better-reviewed full dock.

Newest budget Dreame
A newer budget Dreame with more suction on paper and a 120-day bag.
Why it’s on this list: The newest budget Dreame; no independent tests yet.
Not yet independently tested.
This is a new listing without independent test results yet, so it sits here as an alternative rather than a pick. On paper it improves on the D20 Pro Plus with 20,000 Pa of suction and a sealed 4-liter bag rated for about 120 days.
Dreame lists LiDAR mapping, a main brush that removes hair as it cleans, an anti-tangle side brush and a simple vacuum-and-mop tank with adjustable water flow.
You want the newest budget Dreame and don’t need published tests yet.
You prefer proven results. The D20 Pro Plus has them.

Cheapest self-emptying Roomba
The cheapest way into a self-emptying, laser-mapped Roomba, with real limits.
Why it’s on this list: The cheapest self-emptying robot here, best for homes without pets.
It gives you laser mapping and a dock that empties into a sealed bag for up to 75 days, at a price far below most self-emptying robots. Independent tests are unkind, though: Vacuum Wars measured just 29% pickup of flattened pet hair, heavy hair tangling and no obstacle avoidance, and RTINGS scored it 5.0 for pets.
At 4.1 inches tall in Vacuum Wars’ measurement, it won’t fit under many sofas either. iRobot says the bag traps 99% of allergens as small as 0.7 microns, and the robot can be started from its own buttons as well as the app or a voice assistant.
You have no pets, simple floors and the smallest budget for a self-emptying robot.
You have pets. With 29% pet-hair pickup in testing, the Dreame D20 Pro Plus is the better budget buy.

Spending more buys obstacle cameras, mop-washing docks and better climbing. Vacuum Wars notes budget robots often clean well but need more babysitting, so a tidy home gets the most from a cheap robot.

If you can afford one upgrade, make it the self-emptying dock. It’s the feature that keeps a robot running daily instead of sitting full.
They may clean fine, but without independent tests we can’t tell you which ones. And a robot is only as good as its app and parts supply, which small brands rarely guarantee.
Short answers to what people ask most.
The Dreame D20 Pro Plus: CNN found it the best affordable robot on high-pile carpet, and its dock bag is rated for up to 150 days.
Yes, for daily touch-ups. Vacuum Wars notes that budget robots can clean well but need more babysitting, with fewer avoidance smarts and smaller docks.
Sometimes. Retailers often sell bundles or exclusive model numbers, so compare the exact model number before comparing prices.
In our data, the iRobot Roomba 105 Vac with AutoEmpty dock. It’s fine for pet-free homes, but Vacuum Wars measured just 29% pickup of flattened pet hair.
From the maker’s own refurbished program with a warranty, it can be good value. Vacuum Wars notes a large renewed market for Shark robots in particular.
Rarely camera-based. The Roomba 105 Vac has none, per Vacuum Wars; budget laser-mapping robots plan rooms well but still bump into small objects.
Buy the Dreame D20 Pro Plus. If you can stretch to a mop-washing dock, the MOVA P10 Pro Ultra is the best value step up, and the Roomba 105 Vac only makes sense in a home without pets.
